Every restaurant week, hubby tan and my friends always aim to try 2 or 3 places. We booked La Cicala (a Spanish restaurant) with the girls and Brassarie Wolf for just us two. Both are non-starred restaurants, meaning lunch was $25++ and dinner at $35++. Brassarie Wolf’s dinner menu seemed very promising:
So, we just ordered one of everything so we could try it all.
The bread with Echire butter was really good but that’s probably because we were really hungry. So first up, the starters! The size of the foie gras almost gave me an instant heart attack but it was cooked really well, and went great with the accompanying salad. The portobello mushroom salad with goats cheese was very tasty and refreshing with the greens. Have to say the foie gras was a little too much for 1 to stomach though.
The mains did not disappoint either. The chicken was tender and mash so smooth and tasty. The sauce was a bit too tasty for us though, but I think that’s just the french style not suiting us singaporean taste buds. The red snapper on the risotto was the real star though, the fish was delicious all the way through, and the risotto addictively creamy and cheesy.
The desserts were kind of a let down, just ice cream presented a little fancy, but I’ve had much better profiteroles and baked alaska everywhere else. But we were so full from the previous courses it didn’t matter, it was just nice to have some refreshing ice cream.
Overall, it was a great restaurant week menu, especially the value it presented for a non-starred restaurant, the courses were hearty and delicious. Good one to try for the next restaurant week for sure!
